Pure Vanilla essential oil is solvent extracted from the 'cured' pods or beans of Vanilla planifolia a creeper with trumpet-shaped white flowers. It is also known as common Vanilla, meaning 'little pod'. Native to Mexico, it is mainly cultivated in Madagascar, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Tahiti, Reunion, East Africa, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, West Indies, Central and South America.
